Citrix socket error 10049 indicates displays the error message unable to launch the application you have selected. Citrix users using the XenApp 6.x version encountered this error with the message Unable to launch the application. The socket is not already bound to an application. Sometimes this error also occurs in a large environment while using the XenApp Secure Ticket Authentication (STA). Some users also experience this error when they try to access a resource using the Citrix server. On the XenApp server, if you have enabled the STA logging option, then there is a chance for either the error CSG1214 or CSG1203 to occur.

  • Step 1: The error CSG1214 is displayed with the message Request Refresh-Ticket not found.
  • Step 2: CSG1203 indicates Request Data- Ticket not found. To solve this issue, read and proceed with the instructions given below.
  • Step 3: On your computer, launch the Citrix Web Interface Management Console tool.
  • Step 4: Now, the list of web interface configured with the Citrix Socket web access will appear on the screen.
  • Step 5: Select the interface that causes the issue. For example, XenApp Web Sites.
  • Step 6: Now, the XenApp Web Sites dialog box, along with the list of interfaces configured with it, will appear on the screen.
  • Step 7: Now, check if the Use for load balancing option is selected.
  • Step 8: If not, tick the checkbox beside it.
  • Step 9: Click the Finish button.
  • Step 10: Make sure that the Secure Gateway, Web Interface, and XenApp are at the same port.
  • Step 11: If not, follow the below instructions to solve this Citrix socket error 10049.
  • Step 12: On the Secure Gateway screen, check if the IP or FQDN is assigned for STAs. 
  • Step 13: Then, make sure that the TCP port for Web interface and XenApp are the same.
  • Step 14: Go to the Web Interface of Citrix socket.
  • Step 15: Locate and click the Secure Access tab.
  • Step 16: Select the Secure Ticket Authority Settings window.
  • Step 17: Make sure that all URLs of STA are using the same port.
  • Step 18: If not, click the Edit button beside it and adjust it correctly.
  • Step 19: Now, check if the Citrix socket error 10049 is solved.
