  • Step 1: Go to your Gmail account’s Settings section.
  • Step 2: Click the Forwarding and POP/IMAP tab.
  • Step 3: Now, select the Enable POP for all mail option by clicking the radio button beside it.
  • Step 4: Make sure to click Save Changes.
  • Step 5: As mentioned above, you can configure your Gmail account in any email client now. 
  • Step 6: Refer to the correct setup instructions and configure it.

Using A Separate Email Account

  • Step 1: You can back up your Gmail account using a separate email account like Hotmail. 
  • Step 2: To use this method, first, create a new account. You can also use the existing account if you wish. 
  • Step 3: Make sure to enable the POP3 option on your Gmail account. 
  • Step 4: Now, sign into the second account and go to its Settings section.
  • Step 5: Look for the section titled Sending and receiving email from other accounts and enter your Gmail account credentials in the respective field. Click Save. 
  • Step 6: From now on, all the email messages you receive on your Gmail account will be backed up in the second account.

Using A Cloud-Based Backup Service

Nowadays, most of the email service providers, including Google, offer a cloud-based backup service. This backup service doesn’t require local storage to store your account information.
