Pop-unders or pops is a window that appears behind the current web browser. The window will appear on the screen based on the site you have visited. The pop-unders are used for advertising. The pop-up ads are quite similar to pop-unders. The difference between these two is discussed below. While browsing or viewing a website, if a window appears on the screen, then it is known as pop-unders. If the window appears on the top of the content you are viewing, then it is known as pop ads. 

Follow these simple guidelines to block pop-unders in web browsers such as Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Apple Safari, Microsoft Internet Explorer, and Opera.

For the Google Chrome web browser users:

  • Step 1: Launch the Google Chrome web browser on your computer.
  • Step 2: Locate and click the blue wrench-shaped icon on the main screen of the browser,
  • Step 3: Click the Options option followed by the Under the Hood label.
  • Step 4: Go to the Privacy section and click the Content Settings option.
  • Step 5: Click the Pop-ups tab.
  • Step 6: Enable the Do not allow any site to show pop-ups option.
  • Step 7: Click the Close button.
  • Step 8: Now, the pop-unders and pop-up ads will be blocked in the Google Chrome web browser.

How To Block Pop-Unders For Mozilla Firefox users:

  • Step 1: Locate and double-click on the Mozilla Firefox web browser.
  • Step 2: Now, the Mozilla Firefox web browser window will open.
  • Step 3: Click Options.
  • Step 4: Select the Content option in the Options window.
  • Step 5: Locate and select the Block Popup Windows option by clicking the empty checkbox beside it.
  • Step 6: Click the OK button located at the lower end of the Options window.
  • Step 7: Re-launch the Mozilla Firefox browser.

For Apple Safari users:

  • Step 1: On your Mac computer, launch the Apple Safari web browser by double-clicking its icon.
  • Step 2: Locate and click the checkbox beside the Block Pop-Up Windows option in the menu list.
  • Step 3: To save the changes, restart the Safari web browser.
  • Step 4: Now, the pop-unders and pop-up ads are blocked successfully in the Safari web browser.

For Microsoft Internet Explorer users:

  • Step 1: On the Internet Explorer web browser screen, locate and click the Tools tab.
  • Step 2: Scroll down or up the Tools section to locate the Pop-up Blocker menu. Click the menu.
  • Step 3: Deselect the checkbox next to the Turn on Pop-up Blocker option.
