Method 1: Deleting User cPanel Backups

Generally, in cPanel, there is a backup feature available. If you enable this feature, then a copy of your cPanel control panel settings and other information will be stored in the backup folder. On larger servers, the backup folder can occupy a lot of disk space usage. In that case, the best way to free up the disk space in cPanel is by deleting some data from the backup folder. You can either delete the data one-by-one or mass-delete the entire user cPanel.

Command Via SSH To Mass-Delete cPanel Backups

  • Step 1: for user in `/bin/ls -A /var/cpanel/users` ; do rm -fv /home/$user/backup-*$user.tar.gz ; done

That’s it! The entire cPanel backups have been deleted successfully.

Method 2: Move Backups To Some Other Folder

If you can’t delete the backups, then there is an alternative way because you need them later. Move the backup data to some other folder, such as offsite.  You can mount a backup server on your hosting server to store backups or use an alternative backing method that doesn’t involve storing the backups locally.

Method 3: Delete File Manager Temp Files

You can also free up disk space in cPanel by deleting the File Manager temp files. To do so, run the following command:

  • Step 1: Rm -fv/home/*/tmp/Cpanel_*

Method 4:Clean The Yum Files

The Yum files are unwanted ones, and they occupy a major portion of the server space. To delete all the Yum files, type yum clean all.

Now, all the Yum files stored on your cPanel server will be deleted.

Method 5: Delete Unwanted Accounts

  • Step 2: To check how many user accounts laying around your server, either click WHM > List Suspended Accounts or use the /var/cpanel/suspended command.
  • Step 3: To remove these accounts, go to WHM and select Terminate accounts. You can also the following command to delete the unneeded accounts, /script/killacct < user> <y/n>. </y>
