Method 1: Checking The Server Settings

  • Step 1: On your Windows computer, launch the Outlook app and click the File tab at the top-left corner of the screen.
  • Step 2: Select Info from the left-side panel and click the Manage Accounts button.
  • Step 3: Select your Surewest email account and click the Edit button.
  • Step 4: On the Internet Email Settings screen, verify whether you have configured the correct settings.
  • Step 5: Click the More Settings button and go to the Outgoing Server section.
  • Step 6: Enable the My Outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication checkbox.
  • Step 7: Next, click the Use same settings as my incoming mail serverv radio button.
  • Step 8: Click the OK button and check if you could send emails from your SureWest email account.
  • Step 9: If the Surewest email problems persists, move on to the next troubleshooting method.

Method 2: Remove & Re-add The Email Account Outlook

  • Step 1: Open the Outlook app and click the File tab at the top-left corner of the screen.
  • Step 2: Select the Account Settings option twice and choose your SureWest email account.
  • Step 3: Click the Remove button to remove the SureWest email account from the Outlook app.
  • Step 4: After removing your account, close the Outlook app and launch it again.
  • Step 5: Click the File tab and select the Info tab from the left-side panel.
  • Step 6: Click the Add Account button and enable the Manually configure server settings for email account checkbox.
  • Step 7: Click Next and select the POP or IMAP account option.
  • Step 8: On the Internet Email Settings screen, enter your name and email address in the User Information section.
  • Step 9: Under Server Information, select either POP or IMAP as your account type from the Account Type drop-down menu.
  • Step 10: Fill up the Incoming mail server and Outgoing mail server fields.
  • Step 11: Under Logon Information, enter your email address and its password in the respective fields.
  • Step 12: Click the More Settings button and enable the checkbox and radio button in the Outgoing Server section. 
  • Step 13: Click the Advanced tab and enter the necessary ports in the Outgoing server and Incoming server fields.
  • Step 14: Choose SSL or TLS as your encrypted connection type.
  • Step 15: Click the OK button and select Test Account Settings to verify the configured settings.
